It’s no secret that we’re more likely to experience back pain as we get older. The days of being able to fall asleep on a couch consequence free are gone, and even if we catch ourselves slipping on ice, it could take days, if not weeks, for the resulting pain in our backs to go away. However, some of the pain we end up experiencing could signify something more long-term.

Does Cold Weather Cause Back Pain?

It’s common for people to blame the weather on their aching joints, but is it really the weather to blame? There have been many studies conducted to try and understand the connection between the outdoor climate and people’s bodies, but nothing definitive has yet come of it. Winter Driving Tips

It’s winter again on Long Island, which means many cold days ahead with sporadic snow storms and ice that can linger on the roads for days at a time. This can lead to some hazardous driving conditions that are sometimes hard to notice at first.

One of the biggest dangers is black ice, which can be difficult to see and quickly put you and those around you in jeopardy. Even if you avoid an accident, the sudden jerking motions, as a result, could cause back problems for the foreseeable future. In fact, more than 135,000 Americans suffer injuries related to icy roads every year.

Can The Graston Treatment Treat TMJ?

The temporomandibular joint, or TMJ, is the pair of joints on the sides of your head that connect your jaw to your skull so your mouth can function properly. Whiplash and the Graston Technique®

Neck strain caused by a forceful, fast back-and-forth motion is called “whiplash” because the motion resembles the cracking of a whip. Whiplash injuries are most commonly associated with rear-end car accidents, but it can result from sports accidents, trauma, or other similar jolting injuries.
